Il Duomo Naples Built where there was once a temple to the god of Neptune, the original 1272 building was largely destroyed by a 1456 earthquake. Since then, the Duomo has undergone many transformations, but its value for the city's native population does not lie in its structure. Three vials of Naples'patron saint, San Gennaro's, blood are stored in one of the chapels, and are brought out ceremoniously three times a year for Neapolitans to pray for the safety of their city. If successful, faithful believe the blood will liquify. Address: Via del Duomo 147 Naples NA Italy
