SSC Napoli were formed in 1926 and have spent much of their history plying their trade in Italy's top division, Serie A. After becoming bankrupt in 2004, Napoli were saved by the financial intervention of film director Aurelio de Laurentiis. The team are working their way back up from the regional leagues and could soon be challenging for the Scudetto, Italian soccer's most coveted prize, which they last won in 1990, thanks to the legendary Diego Maradona. |
